Let us know if they come through and do it for you and on what terms. No one's discussed this yet, but think about how this affects your bargaining position. Ideally, an inspection strengthens it--but no dealer is going to want to spend 3+ hours labor time for someone who is not really committed to buying the car. So when and how do you bring this up? Not sure. I think you have to negotiate price as hard as you can, be happy with that, and then insist on having the pan dropped and screen checked to seal the deal. That could irritate them, but if you do commit enough and they drop the pan before you get a price, you signal how serious you are about the car and they have no reason to discount it much. Moreover, they can pull out some lame excuses about how much they've already bent over backwards for you, given you $400 in 'free' labor to check the pan/screen, etc.
