It somewhat depends if it is a SAAB dealer or a used car dealer who bought the car at an auction. As others mention, neither one will want to do that job and in fact the used car dealer mechanic (if they even have one) may not be able to do this. In fact you may not want him to because he could do a sloppy job. The SAAB dealer can do it if you pay him, as can a SAAB independent mechanic.
It involves putting the car up on a lift, then removing the oil pan which has lots of bolts holding it on. I believe the exhaust downpipe may have to be removed first (not sure). Then after dropping the pan and inspecting/cleaning it all has to be put back together with the proper sealant. As others mention, anyone doing this will want to be paid for it.
The last one I bought I did the next best thing - pulled the valve cover which is at the top of the motor and easy to do (30 min off/on) and looked at the condition. Of course it's not the same as inspecting the sump, but I think a sludged engine would show deposits and bits of sludge up there too. The only way to really know is drop that pan though.
Good luck!
