I recently did the same thing, I was getting really tired of the aloof handling of my '08 Mercedes R-class and traded it on an '07 Aero SportCombi auto 60th. I'm a bit of a Saab enthusiast so the choice wasn't too terribly difficult when I saw this car on offer at my BMW dealer (I also have a '10 335i xdrive).

This is my third 9-5, my first was an '01 lpt auto wagon bought new, the second was an '02 Aero manual bought used with 62k on it.

To me, the '07 Aero compared quite favorably to the '02 Aero I had - they've dialed in more steering feel and communication without making the ride more harsh. The ride is more compliant on my '07, but not much more so than the '02. I think the '07 is more composed over large bumps, but the overall cornering ability seems a bit better than on the '02 - and I've been taking on/off ramps at pretty high speeds in the '07, as it's such a remarkable difference from the Mercedes.

I wasn't a big fan of the new dash when they released it in '06, I thought the previous design was more Saab-esque - but having spent a week or so in the car now I actually prefer the redesign. I think the climate dials work better than the buttons, and I think they look better as well. As many have said on this topic though, to each their own. I can certainly see the pros of the older design.

I think the '02-05 9-5 Aero sedan actually looks better than the new car, but for some reason the '06+ Aero wagon looks better to me than the older cars. Mine is the 60th anniversary edition, with the darker dash trim - I like the dark nature of the interior.

I'm not a big fan of the chrome on the front of the '06+ cars, and I'm actually thinking of blacking out the chrome trim on the front - I saw a pic on another forum of an '06+ car blacked out, and I thought it looked very sinister.
