I have an 06 9-5 wagon, we have 1 18 month old now, and will likely have more kids on the way (maybe 3 max). I love the 9-5 wagon and we are keeping it, but we wanted something bigger, especially for when we have people visiting and for all the kid gear, so we got a used 08 toyota highlander hybrid, of course can't really compare it to the 9-5 at all, but I like it so far. Seats are of course not as nice even with leather ones, but it has tons of room and right now we are getting about 25-26 mpg. Not sure what your budget is, but you could get a similar car (limited version) for about 30k with extended warranty, or 25-26k non-limited version.
