Like I said, We managed for 3 years with kids with the 9-5, no issues. I still haul around 3 kids in my 9-5 without issue.
The LR3 we bought was used (2006) and was cheaper than most minivans etc and it is fairly narrow so it fit in our narrow garage.
The 9-5 is great, gas millage, size, safety, power and even reliability it is really hard to replace it.
When car shopping I always tried to take the car home (without sales person) so we could load car seats and kids without any pressure.
