It is one of these things were different mechanics have different opinions and they will never mesh. Just like machining brake rotors or not.
Some are cautious filling the oil filter every time on every car just to be on the safe side or pouring oil down the canister housing on the cars using that type of filter.
Nothing wrong about it and in some cases and some years/models (older Mercedes for instance) it can be the difference between doing just an oil change or an oil change plus timing chain and head/valve job due to that the timing chain tensioner is not filled up quickly enough.
If you just start the engine and let it idle until the oil pressure light goes out, it is no harm done but if you would to start the engine and instantly step on the throttle, you could maybe ruin the turbo bearing.
The same goes when the car have been sitting over night. If you step on it hard right after start up, you take a toll on the turbo.
One of my customers actually have a post oiler on his 900T where a tank is hooked up to the oil pressure line at turbo and it fills the tank with oil but with an air pocket on top. When he shuts off the engine, the oil is slowly pushed by the compressed air through the turbo bearing to cool it down.
This was one of the many devices created in late 70s and early 80s when we did see many turbo failures mostly due to that they were not cooled by the cooling system.
