We have a 2004 Aero Wagon and I put a set of Cooper RS-3A (225/45WR17) all season tires on it after seeing a non-advertisement write-up in Road & Track and in European Car. They've been great. Quiet, responsive, good in both rain and the dry, and they've been wearing well. UTQG is 500. Pricing is competitive - less than Michelin and more than Kumho. I also like the Yokohama Avid Envigor tires on my BMW e46. They're the same size as on the Saab and feel a lot like the Coopers. They're long wearing too and carry a similar UTQG rating.
I just took delivery on a set of new alloys with General Altimax Arctic (205/55QR16) for the winter. I'll put them on in a couple of weeks and see how they go. I read about them on this board and the TireRack site. A tire test engineer I know ALWAYS recommends dedicated winter rubber. The control and confidence you get is well worth in IMO.
