I have a 07 9-5 Sportcombi Aero manual, and I can tell you, I would not even consider an automatic. It took me about five years to find one and the price was just right. One thing I can tell you about 9-5's with manual transmissions is that they feel heavy to accelerate from standstill to about 30 mph due to the engine management and turbo spool, but once they go, they just fly. Smooth gear shifts with lots of power from engine thanks to TD04 pressure power curve.
Can't say any negative remarks about 9-3 aeros. They are smoothand pleasant to drive. But I have to agree with some posts made that its a European GM engine and that there's more SAAB in 9-5 then in 9-3
