Hello all. Apologize if this topic is not appropriate for this board. Have been driving only Saabs for twenty years now and will continue to do so for as long as I can. Currently own an '04 95 aero sedan and a '98 9000 cse, wife's first car. Love both of these cars, but, with another baby on the way we are forced to buy a bigger vehicle. SUV's are out because the ones with the third row seat and ample cargo space are v8's and deliver poor gas mileage. Have mostly made up my mind to get a used Honda Odyssey, '08 or '09 EX-L. Chose the Odyssey for a lot of reasons, safety being a big factor as they are top-rated for that. This is one reason why I continued buying Saabs after a rollover accident forced me to sell my first, an '88 8 valve 5spd. After the tow truck pulled it out of the ditch, I drove it home with only a small bruise on my elbow! After doing a lot of research both on the internet and by speaking with Odyssey owners I am quite surprised to find out that the Odyssey has some reliability issues, including alignment problems, cv joint, transmission, brake, and power steering failures among others. I had always thought that Honda was a car that people bought mainly because they knew that all they would encounter as far as maintenance was oil changes, brakes, and tires. These issues may be inflated as far as the internet goes but I'm a little concerned now and don't feel comfortable buying one that is not a CPO. Would appreciate any feedback from Odyssey owners or owners of other minivans as far as safety/reliability goes. My aero has almost 120k miles on it and the 9000 has almost 165k miles and I don't worry about driving the kids in either car. Man, I wish Saab made a minivan! Thanks if you've gotten this far.
