1. How much you are prepared to spend on the vehicle purchase?
2. What will be the mileage per annum? If it is not that large (say, less than 20K mi/year) then consider the SUVs as well. The extra fuel cost may only be 50 bucks a month but you will have much broader choice and all-weather capability (it is also tied to your region, a van and snowy winter = extra set of winter tires).

I would definitely look at Volvo XC-90, 2.5T or 4.4V8 before 2008 or any model after that (older 3.2 ate gearboxes + required timing belt swap). Another great choice would be a Subaru Tribeca with 3 rows. Post-2008 with 3.6 are much better than the earlier 3.0H6.
Honda Pilots are very nice too.
BTW, the Sienna has an AWD model and has the most comfortable ride among all vans. From 2007 it got a 3.5V6 that has a timing chain instead of the belt.

Beware of older Sequoia and Nissan-whatever (Titan-based), they had crude part-time 4x4 (0 value for a mostly paved road vehicle). Land Cruiser on the other hand has permanent 4WD. Lexus LX will have air suspension, which may require pricey repairs down the road.
