So to answer my original question, it is true: the whole og 9-5 line does have DI cassettes. There must have been a reason why the ng 9-3 and ng 9-5 both did away with it!
My main concern is actually not even the availabilty or price of DICs but the fact that it can die with no warning while the car is driving. I remember reading on this board that someone's 2006 9-5 with the latest software update had the DI die right in the middle of a busy intersection. That fact alone makes me think twice about buying one. Not sure if this is more of an anomaly, I read something similar on other boards as well.
2008+ ng 9-3 seems to have a lot of bugs fixed and no DI but it is still a smaller cheaper car.
