Thanks everyone.
I hadn't considered the tires (even though I'm a bit of a tire snob). Certainly that will make a difference! Considering my stomping grounds are all under construction after Sandy (think 80's Beirut), the softer suspension may be preferred.
The 01 has 97K; the 08 has 127K.
You can definitely tell the General sucked as much cost out of the updated car. Both my 00 and 02's seemed like the overall quality was built in to last forever; newer car not so much. The 08 has the ventilated sport seats; 01 obviously does not. But, after driving the 08, it felt tighter inside - maybe it was the seats. And I'm a sucker for a walnut dash over the aluminum.
Just as a vent - I stopped by the place that had the 08 on Saturday. Drove it (and would buy it for the right $), and had to rush out to meet a client. Left all of my contact info with the manager to call me later in the day. he said he would and never did. With phone/email/text what gives? I run my own business and communication - even if its an "I'll get back to you" is of utmost importance and courtesy.
