I took extra time and removed the lenses from the car Posted by jgARC03SW [Email] (#1216) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jgARC03SW) on Thu, 10 Apr 2014 11:39:56 In Reply to: Xenon headlite - should I replace it myself?, dixdance, Wed, 9 Apr 2014 09:10:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
which made replacement of the actual bulbs much much easier. Hardest part was reaching in and finding the tab that hold the glass turn signal corner holder in place.
Also let me replace those little 5 watt "city lights" that had burned out, which looks REALLY hard to do with the headlights still in the car.
This also allowed a thorough "clean and restore the lenses" job without worry of getting the chemicals on the bumper's paint.
But yeah the actual replacing of the xenons is almost the same as for halogens (I replaced my halogen high beam/flash to pass too).
Hopefully it is the bulb that is out and not the rectangular booster piece underneath the headlight that bumps up the voltage to thousands of volts.
Most people will say you don't need to as long as the car is off, but for extra safety I'd remove the battery cable.
