Like you said, it's tires, tires, tires, but the C900, for example, can run skinny 165-80-15 (if you could find 'em), or at worst (for snow), 185-65-15. Add to that the more direct feel from the older cars and you have a winner. For that matter, (manual shift) 99s are better still b/c they have a manual rack.
