Well, it looks like my joy was a bit short-lived. Over the weekend I has both DICs fail on my 2003 Arc (V6). Flashing engine light. I (perhaps not wisely) nursed it about 1-1/2 or 2 miles to the dealer across from work.
Replaced DICs and plugs, and it runs beautifully. Picked it up Tuesday evening. No issues Tuesday evening or Wed am. Last night, started up no worries, about 3 miles in, I guess that car reached operating temperature, and I got the CEL. Car still ran great, no stumbles or hiccups. Quick check at Autozone indicated the P0420 code.
I'm now sourcing a Catalytic converter -- time sensitive due to me inspection being due this month.
It appears that GenuineSAAB (93167218) may be available, but hard to get and possibly shipped from Sweden. I'm on hold with eEuro as I type this to see what they say.
eEuro has a BOSAL available in stock -- its the complete assembly like the GS on.
FCP also has the BOSAL (indicating it is not CA compliant), but also has a DEC one as well.
Does anyone have any experience with these brands? I need to get a few more years out of the car but am most concerned to not be setting CELs constantly (which I hear can be an aftermarket issue).
Any and all thought welcome.......
