I'm interested in seeing how this turns out. My biggest concern (aside from physically securing the battery and ensuring adequate ventilation) would be around electrical gremlins. These cars seem to be pretty finicky when they aren't getting full electrical power -- whether that via a bum battery or corroded cables/connections. I'm not an engineer, but common sense (at least to me) argues that adding 4 or 5 times the length to these cables is going to introduce some increased risk around power transmission/charging. Maybe not an issue, and maybe easily addressed, but just something that sits in the back of my mind.
The likelihood that I would do such a modification is pretty slim. Because battery life is a known concern, and I'm fine with testing my battery at each service with invoking a battery warranty at the first sign of trouble. It's served me well for the past 13 years.
That's just my opinion. But then again, I'm the nut who likes his V6 :)
Good luck and keep us posted!
