The 9-5's from at least 20o2 & up have a cooling vent for the battery. During dog days of summer here in southern ontario, which are few, I will open the hood for a while after a Tallendaga-style long run to help prevent heat damage to the DI, battery and other electronics. I do regularly de-sulphate the battery with a battery conditioner and trickle charger. Maybe not a cure-all for all battery evils but it seems to help with the 3-4 batteries I have in service at any one time. The Interstate (higher end) Megatron non AGM on the automatic is going into it's sixth year...... Just bought and Canadian Tire Eliminator AGM for the stick as preventative maintenance since I've had the car 3 1/2 years and it doesn't seem to have a date code that tells me how old it is.
