thanks jim. that's exactly what i needed. i'm thinking of velcroing it to the left side of the dash, right above the fuse box. not sure if it will be obstructed by the car paneling. I'll try behind the mirror too.
btw...i almost opted for the 8500, but got the bel980. didn't rate as high, but was a bit cheaper. thanks again. martin
