Why do you use 15w-50 ?

I have 185K and 195K on my current Saabs and I have always used Mobil 1 0w-30 or 5w-30 because I always thought the lower viscosity lets the turbo spin with less resistance and better lubrication. Do you recommend the 15w-30 because of the higher mileage to compensate for wear or do you live in a warmer climate. Do you run this during the summer months only? When I had a turbo diesel they never recommended the 15w-50 because it was considered for non turbo diesel engines and recommended Mobil 1 Delvac 05w-40. I live in the Northeast would you recommend me using it? Any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks.
