yes and no.

I decided to break out the new garage for it's first big DIY project. I ordered silicone hoses (i know overkill, but I figure I could move them to my 07 later if car dies.) for the car along with the water pump, t-stat, heater bypass, and some other stuff I needed from Eeuro.

I figured that if I've got to get everything removed to get to the lower hose from water pump to radiator and the U-hose, then I might as well do the pump while I'm there. (Full disclosure, I'd done the WP on my 97-900 in the driveway years ago and remember the power steering pump being in my way). This was pretty painless. To give myself access to the engine I removed the battery and it's holder, etc.

Everything, was going swimmingly until I couldn't figure out where 2 smaller hoses from the kit went. A quick chat w/ Eeuro and I was working on installing these on throttle body.

I got everything installed and put together after about 6 steady, but leisurely hours. (I did a lot of cleaning off of power steering fluid that had seeped and dried.) I filled and fired it up and a leak presented itself coming from the area below the turbo intake (It could be the WP, or any of the connections.) So, I dismantled it all on that side and found coolant sitting on the AC compressor. I cleaned it up and checked all of the fittings and everything seemed good and wasn't leaking while the car was off. I thought maybe a seal needed to expand or something. So, I put it all back together again. and fired it up again. It leaked again. This time I could shine a light on the problem while it was running and saw the banjo bolt was leaking at the water pump.

Well, I was angry about having to pull it all part again, but I did. I backed the bolt out and then reseated it and we've been leak free since then. In the end I had the car up for 14 hours in the garage and was happy to see it completed.

Further punishment came the next day when I was playing baseball in an adult league and I tore my calf running to first. I'm convinced this was because I was leaning over the engine bay for as long as I was and didn't stretch.

The lesson learned is that I should stop trying to be athletic and just make more beer and having a dedicated place to work on the car that has heating and cooling and power is a thing not to be taken lightly.

Thanks for all the replies.

Gregg
