I started doing this pretty meticulously I would suppose about 9 years ago. But maybe less.
I lost a fuel pump on an ultra low mileage '01 Aero we got from a playboy who had left ethanol in there. And I had lost the fuel pump on a '95 900 S with 200,000 miles on it that seldom got fuel treatments.
But since that time I've been using a fairly steady regime of this Lucas Fuel Treatment and since 2010 I've had no fuel pump issues. We're talking 4 different 9-5s, all piling on significant miles.
Yes, these are very often highway miles. But my theory is the Lucas seems to mitigate against the stripping effect of the ethanol on the plastic parts of the fuel system. The plasticizers and etc., of these parts are insulated from some of the degradation I associate with ethanol in motor fuel.
Were you already doing the Lucas often by then? Thanks.
