Unfortunately there is no safe answer to that.
Sure, the pieces could be trapped in the tubes of intercooler and so well that backflushing wouldn't get them out either and you'll be no wiser.
Or they could be laying there waiting for the right amount of whoosh and get sucked into the engine.
I had an engine many years ago with a "burned valve" and bad turbo. I could see something up there with my video scope but not well enough to see what was going on.
So I took the head off and valve out and it was a tiny piece of the turbo impeller lodged on the valve. It fell off by itself when touched and if I had known the full scope, I might have been able to manufacture a scratch tool that would have poked it loose from the spark plug hole or from intake or exhaust ports. Oh well.
