I am occasionally having a situation where the SID will ding but there is no message. It’s usually happening when I am not looking at the dash but yesterday it did it a few times in (non-rapid) succession when I had just pulled into a parking space. The alert sounds and the christmas tree comes on for less than a second. This seems to happen after short trips (most of my trips are short) like moving the car from my side driveway to the front driveway for example(after some warm up time - I usually don’t drive it until the temp gauge starts moving). Yesterday was a trip to the liquor store a few blocks away. This was the first time it repeated the behavior. But it doesn’t happen every time.
Probably not a coincidence that I have on two separate occasions months apart had the ABS light come on along with the christmas tree and the SID displays an alert which I don’t remember but I think it’s something like “ look at dashboard”. Both times I turned the car off and the warnings did not reoccur. It has been a few months since the last time that happened. But since this intermittent and brief alert is not the same the two may not be related so I am not going to assume that.
Would this be something that could be checked with an OBDII or Tech2 after-the-fact (i.e. do the codes get stored for a period of time)? Any other wisdom would be appreciated!
TIA
