I did a search on this board and found the answer: a plain old Torx screwdriver doesn't have enough torque to do the job. Of course, in the way that things generally work in life, I don't have any Torx bits for my ratchets.
Took the 9-5 wagon (didn't want to have to reconnect the DIC connector on the Aero) down to the local big box store - and of course, they had every size Torx bit EXCEPT the #30 I needed. Grrr! Headed off to the local independent hardware store, didn't see ANY Torx bit sockets. Asked one of the allegedly "expert" employees and he shook his head, saying they didn't have that kind of thing. Didn't make sense to me, as this is a hardware store frequented by contractors. Found a different employee, and he led me right to them.
With the 3/8" ratchet and the #30 Torx bit, the screws came out easily. The threads looked fine.
Everything came apart and went back together without any problems. New SEM/Made in Sweden DIC, new OEM Saab plugs, done. I was surprised that the old plugs didn't look worse than they did. But I think it's sort of good policy to replace the plugs when you replace the DIC.
