It was a painful read and I think a Saab 9-5 D-I-Y Bravery Award is warranted here. Very useful information for owners with a Gripen (formerly referred to by some as a Dame Edna). On the preventative side, I speculatively seem to have success running Lucas UCL for years. Have never had a fuel pump failure in the four Saabs we have/had in our usually cold/cool climate but acknowledge many variables. Lucas doesn't address the filter issue but I believe most name brand stations in these parts have been using 1 micron filters on their pumps for a minimum of 10 years which in theory is higher filtration than a fuel filter provides.
