The V6 positive battery cable was a nightmare to replace with genuine parts when they were available since there are several other wires included in the package.
If the car only suffers from the over heated lug ring at alternator, what I do is to cut off the cable right after starter lug ring and then I manufacture a jumper cable between alternator and starter lug just like Saab used to have on the old 900 model.
Still, without being able to lift the car up in the air, it is a challenge to reach up there and cut off the cable with an air saw or sawzall.
