OK so after replacing alternator, replacing +cable and having the battery checked I have managed to get the alternator to work. But there is a caveat, at startup I get the battery symbol on the instrument panel but when I rev the engine to 2000 rpm the battery symbol goes away and the battery is charging. Is there a reason the battery is not charging at startup but then does when I rev up to 2000 rpm?
