The replacement decals I have used, in the past from Portugal, and more recently from Greece, adhered to the existing base. They do protrude more than the original due to the clear dome, but look just fine. I should mention that replacement badges are available from Saab vendors for many models, although I suspect some of them may be aftermarket because they don’t look quite the same as the original. But they do seem to hold up pretty well maybe with just a little haze over time. The same with the lettering where i replaced some on a 2000 and 2007 after some painting, so those are often available on the original mounting cards.
