Yeah, I have had the same problem but fortunately just had the wires shredded (several times!!) and not the fuel line... I guess they can get up in that space from below the car and it is probably warmer this time of year. The top of the dic seems to also be a preferred dining table for mice in the winter. I'm frequently finding turds and various food detritus there (like seeds shells from our neighbour's bird feeder). Probably stays warm for a while even in the worst cold...
