If I can control the laughter. You are saying that a VW 1.8 (their most bulletproof engine ever, in use for over 15years) needs a complete rebuild after 125k miles?? Obviously you have never owned one. Next time you see some of these oldies around town take a look at the odometers. My brother has an 83 GTI with 325k kms on it, my old GTI had 245k kms on it my old audi had 180k kms on it. All these cars had original EVERYTHING! Now lets look at my 97 SAAB with 70k kms on it....new clutch and rebuilt head/burnt valves. I am not saying one make is better than the other, I love my SAAB but dont say that the 1.8 is unreliable. You, my friend, are ill-informed. This is not a biased opinion either this is fact.
