First of all the current 1.8L Turbo from VW
shares nada with it ancestors... unless you
call the engine block engine...
All the other parts are new and not as long lived
as in older 1.8 L versions.
If you would know your stuff you would know that
since the first 1.8L 16V engine, reliability has
been down quite a bit.
One more thing, exlain to us how come VW makes 95% of
its profits from spare part sales ? how could that
be on a car that never has any problems ???
How come the SAAB engine still holds so many records ?
For one simple reason, it's vastly supperior and build
by a company that knows Turbo engines quite a bit better
then VW.
SAAB engines can be run at full load an power for 600 hours
, VW/AUDI engines only for 300 hours. This is why VW/AUDI will
have a hard time to beat the 60'000 mile records set up by
stock SAAB Turbo cars.
And everyone that knows VW/AUDI is aware of the fact that the
2.7T engine is a maint. nighmare if you push that engine
in everyday use. Tunning it only makes it worse.
Regards,
Coolknight
