I think you are going to have to live with it. My '01 Aero Wagon is the same. I hate the way the revs hang during the first/ second shift, but that's the way it is. Someone said in this forum that it has to do with the ECU trying to reduce the boost lag. I don't really believe that one bit. It _feels_ as if the engine has a really heavy flywheel and just doesn't want to slow back down - it's very irritating.
I don't like to drive my car in traffic because of that flaw - I much more enjoy it on the open road in the higher gears.
