The advantages of the true synthetics are quite broad, not a single issue. The main issue is the problem with oil companies selling their group III products against Mobil One and charging around the same prices as Mobil One. The profits are obscene. This allows them them to have very expensive adverts as well.
So support the one major producer who sells a true synthetic, or you might not have any choice in the future othere than Redline and Amsoil. Note that Amsoil changed there 7500 oil to group III oil.
The group III oils are probably ok as far as thinning is concerned, as these oils probably have less VI improvers to wear out from shear.
If you are paying synthetic prices, you might as well get a true synthetic.
Some synthetics will also provide fuel savings that a group III oil cannot.
Saab uses Mobil One as a factory fill. That speaks volumes.
