My 9000T was an 86 but I have driven more recent 9000 Aeros and CSE. Although I would dearly enjoy a 9-5 Aero, I find our 01 lpt quite adequate, especially since I switched the standard ECU for an Aero ECU. Doesn't turn it into an Aero, but it yields a significant power gain without increasing fuel consumption. If you get a 2000 lpt, there is a Saab engine upgrade available. The reason I mention this is I remember test driving the 170hp lpt and founding it a bit lame, whereas I did not get that impression from the 185hp variant. I really think Rick's comments are spot on. Unfortunately, easy cars to work on as your 900 are a breed of the past. Personally, I wish barebones Saabs were available in the US, perhaps as in Europe? Hope you find a nice one.
