Phil: I do not think that Europe has taken Onstar from GM yet,or if at all. The trouble with heradsets and nice mounting brackets is that they do not offer all the features that the hands free kit offers. The fact that you can be listening to a CD or the radio and have the call mute the sound is a terrific feature if yu listn to a lot of music while driving, which I do. Also, every time you get in the car, you have to put the headset on, and every time you leave the car, off it comes. Add up all the times you have to do that, and to me, the hands free kit wins all the time.
I really do not believe that this is a DIY project to get it done right the first time, and get it done quick. That was the nature of my coment. If you are an electronics tech or engineer, and familiar with this type of project, and don't mind it taking a lot longer, then perhaps you will do it yourself. I'm an engineer by training, and did not want to delve into something I had not worked on before. The electrical system of cars have totally changed over the years, and Saabin particular has a significantly different architecture than many other cars. The shop I used had doe perhaps 25 other 9-5 installs before they did my first one four years ago. I do not want to be the guinea pig for this type of project.
Good Luck Lou
