Don't forget, that Aero is being built by an automaker with a strong rally heritage based in a nordic country!
I'm in Toronto and don't see too much serious snow, although this winter's been worse than normal. I do get out of the city often.
I wanted to keep some decent dry-pavement performance 'cause winter is just too long around these parts to give up too much handling for snow performance. I stuck with the 17" wheels and got a set of V rated Pirelli winter tires. They weren't cheap, but they're great! I've never gotten stuck, and when the roads are dry they handle almost as well as the stock Michelins (and the difference might just be because the pavement is so cold, dry or not) My neighbour actually runs the same tires all year long on his Audi (I guess he doesn't care how fast they wear)
One occasion sticks in my memory: after a 20cm dump I drove out of my laneway without any trouble, then went back to help dig out my neighbour's Volvo! (to be fair, it was a rwd 740, his V70 got out fine!)
To summarize, great winter car, TCS works suberbly, and other winter goodies like a block heater (standard in Canada) and the superior light and windshield cleaning system and the heated seats (rear too!) make this one a no-brainer.
