I have owned a 97 outback, 97 volvo 850 wagon and own a 00 saab 9-5 se,
the outback was great in snow but thats about it, it feels cheap
the doors feel too light to protect you and your kids the milage
was about 18 mpg which sitnks, the car is super narrow, get two
car seats in the back (thats it)
the volvo was a brick super solid, super slow, some lousy problems
like abs model and other anyoning stuff would go wrong, maintance
must be done on all volvos or you will have big problems. the non turbo
volvo is super under powered and the ride is really harsh.
the saab is super refined plenty of power and fun to drive,
it at the top of the list for safety. there is some trouble
problem with the saab I am not happy with, but used saabs
are the best deal I could get for a great car.
I think the saab wagon is the best car you can get for the money
