...it definitely confirmed what I knew all along. ALL drivers need to read this!!
It's a Car & Driver Winter Traction Test from May '99 that compared the A6 FWD, A6 Quattro, E320 RWD, E320 4Matic with stock all-seasons and then with winter tires. There are noticeable improvements in acceleration, especially for the FWD Audi and RWD Benz. But what was most dramatic were the stopping distances - on the A6 Quattro, stopping distance from 50 mph was improved by over 60 ft with the winters!!
Sure there will be a ton of people telling you that they have x yrs of driving on all seasons without incident, but wouldn't you want to spend that extra bit of money to make your car handle and stop better? Heck, we're willing to spend $1000 on an ECU that saves us, what, 1 sec to get to 60mph?? Besides, using winters for 3 months per year will also prolong the life of your all-seasons.
