Jim,
I live in North Idaho (Post Falls to be exact) and swear by the winter tires. I drive a 2003 Aero with the Saab Winter tire package (the Gislaved Nordi-Frost II on 16" rims)and I have never had a problem. This is my second Aero (first was a 2000) and I just purchased a 2003 Linear Wagon for my wife. The winter tires are the first thing going on her car(especially as I am sitting here watching about 8" of snow drop on us!!!!).
Happy driving!
Tom
