Valve cover bolts have never come loose before one the 16V engine since 84.

Suddenly in about 96-97 I started to see it more and more and it seems to be worse as newer the car gets.

I don't think it's a big problem since the head bolts needs to be retorqued anyway ;O) and with that the valve cover gets torqued to proper specs like I always have tighten them (just about enough).
Strange though that I have never had a problem with the bolts coming loose after doing a valve cover gasket????
