Step 1. Purchase service booklet 3:2 - wiring diagrams. This is the only service manual section that they print on paper - because it's a little hard to trouble=shoot circuits with a screen image...

Step 2. Find that page for USA Xenon headlights.

Step 3. Jumper the wire that drives the bi-xenon shutter motor to the halogen filaments. (each side) This is most conveniently done inside the headlight fuse and relay box, which is in the engine compartment. There is also a wire to cut to separate the left and right filament circuits. Otherwise, if you get a fault that blows the fuse on the one side, it will also blow the other fuse.

I recommend the modification. The halogens are "pencil beam" lights that throw lumens waaayyyy down the road. The Xenons are a wide beam, and opening the shutter to put them on high mainly illuminates the trees.
