Bought a 1982 900T with 105K miles in 1993 for $425. It needed a new turbo (blew smoke), but was otherwise in perfect shape. Spotless interior! The owner thought it was going to blow up. I replaced the turbo and ran it for a year then sold it for $2900 to someone who really wanted it. Used that as a down payment on a 9000CS.

Just this year I got rid of my money-pit 9000CS and bought a 1991 900 base with 121K miles for $1500. I replaced the head gasket and ball joints. I've put 14K miles on it already, and it is a great ride. Maybe I can sell it for $3500 ;-) Then again, maybe I can drive it for another 10 years and not have any car payments. Yep... that's the idea!
