I found my SPG this past July purely by chance. It was parked on a side street in North Seattle and had obviously not been driven in years. Tabs were from 1998. Covered with dust and dirt but in fantastic condition, new cooper radials, perfect paint, good panels and typical of the west-coast, not a spot of rust anywhere. The interior was totally trashed. Sign on the dash was asking $2500. It took me a month to find the owner - he was in Alaska. The car was about to be towed into impound by the city, so I managed to weasel it out of him for $500. It ran great (boosted into the red!) and I drove it home, but the transmission went about two weeks later. I replaced it with a freshly rebuilt 1990 5-speed (among other things). Car also had an Alpine CD deck, Polk Subwoofer, 280 watt Pioneer amp, hands-free cell hookup, and aftermarket alarm. I yanked out all the alarm and cell phone stuff (not my style) and put a 2.8 FPR and 24# injectors in it - now running about 15 psi and it flies...
I did have to sink quite bit of $$ to get it to daily driver status so technically I did not pay just $500 but it was still a great deal.
Link below shows pic taken the day after I got it... and washed it.
