u claim to have replaced everything.. spent lots of money all to no avail.. now u are thinking of replaceing the engine.. as i said elswhere.. there is nothing special about saab engines.. they follow the same rules as most others.. i really find it hard to believe that after all this effort u still have no idea why it is that your car gets hot going up hills or in traffic..

firstly the two are intirely different things.. going up hill puts extra load on engines traffic does the opposite..

okay as a last resort and this was always an old trick.. remove your T-Stat completely.. plus bridge your fan so as its going all the time.. this takes two possible causes out of the equation.. now if your car still gets hot in traffic.. ie light load situations.. come back and we can go further..

i can except the fact u aint cured your problem.. what i cant except is that u still dont have the vaguest idea as to whats causing your problem..

car cooling systems are very simple.. especially if u take the temperature controling devices out of them.. basically the water goes around and around thru engine and thru radiator.. the engine heats it up and the radiator cools it down.. a little pump thingy helps it on its way.. with no T-stat and fans going all the time at idle your car should not shift the temp guage off its bottom mark.. basically the radiator should win this battle easily

assuming your engine runs vaguely like an engine should run.. u have a pump plus rad.. at light loads there really is no way it can get too hot..

your does have those funny rubber pipe thingies connecting the engine to the rad doesnt it.. he he he
