A large filter not only has more filter media in it, but it also holds more oil. More oil means better cooling. Its probably not a big issue this time of year, but nice to have come Summer.
Never use Fram oil filters, BTW. There are about five independent surveys (all accessible on the web) that have cut open every filter out there and they all blast Fram for thin walls and poor filtration.
