The new master link provided with the SAAB open-ended ("roll-in") timing chain has smooth pins, and you must press the end plate onto them and then peen the ends to retain the plate. This must be done correctly or expensive problems will result.
Please post if you are able to match the SAAB chain up to another chain that has the type of link connection you refer to.
