I've only owned 2 Saabs, one hatch and one convertible. It would be very difficult to say which I like better since each has its own good points. Personally I might say I like the hatch better, just because of the storage room, but when I'm driving with the top down, who cares about that? Convertibles are fun!
The weatherstrip on mine is pretty shot, but the noise still isn't too bad. I think the hatch might have handled a bit more sharply, but my hatch was a non-turbo and the convertible is a turbo. Turbo makes driving more fun!
The top on my car didn't work and I was forced to manually put it up and down, by releasing the hydraulic pressure via the valve in the trunk. I thought it was rather difficult to do! (Though I'm not the most athletic guy around). Now that my top works, it goes up and down with the touch of a button, very nice!
I drive the convertible year-round as it's my only car, no problems, even with snow and ice.
Good luck deciding. My decision was easy -- it was the only Saab for sale in my town at the time, and quite a deal too!
