......you don't want the convertible.

(1) Convertibles are heavier than their tin-roof counterparts. They ALL flex, they have to and going to great lengths to stiffen them runs counter to why engineers build in some flex. If they were totally rigid, a sharp twist would never "bounce back" and you would have a car that track somewhat sideways.

(2) There's no utility; just compare the convertible's truck (< 10 Ft3) vs. those cavernous hatchbacks.

(3) You'll hear every badly patched piece of road transmitted to the top when its up.

(4) Back-seat passengers will yell to be heard with the top down. You can leave the windows up with the top down, but few things look more ridiculous.

(5) You'd prefer a manual top...no you wouldn't with this car and its a small top. That's why there's the rocker switch on the console.

(6) You'll never have a blind-spot so large as on the convertible.

(7) Those tops do wear out are are very pricey. You could go through 3 or 4 headliners before you equal the expense of one convertible top.

(8) You're not a hugh fan of convertibles, so why go the extra expense of buying one? Owning a convertible is all about living with compromises which is why most people buy one, and never buy another ever again.

That all said, for my own personal vehicles, I will ALWAYS own a convertible. I have been living with the compromises for 29 years and will continue to do so.

There are 3 kinds of people:

A - convertible people who will always drive them no matter what the expense and compromises

B - people who don't want a convertible

C - people who think that owning a convertible would be fun (these people eventually gravitate toward the "B" group).
