In addition to what burlyb said, clean the throttle body with carb cleaner (not the diet stuff, of course [feeble joke]).
And, to expand on what burly said about vacuum leaks, if you haven't done it yet, replace all of the vacuum hoses and the rubber bushings that hold the vacuum nipples into the intake manifold and valve cover. If the vacuum hoses are old, they'll develop lots of little cracks that cause insanity, blindness, and bring little web-footed creatures out of electrical outlets after you've spent lots of time trying to trace out vacuum leaks.
It takes about 15 feet of 3.5 mm hose to replace the small underhood vacuum hoses. I picked up a bunch of it at a local speed shop for around $1 a foot. You can also get it from various site sponsors.
Also, replace the rubber bushing that holds the big PCV hose into the plastic turbo duct - it has a thin cross-section were it goes through the duct and can develop a hard-to-find vacuum leak there.
