I have had the same thoughts when snaking the assembly out, if that wiper arm stud was just a tad shorter it wouldn't be a problem at all.
The little flat drive arm that you bolt to the wiper motor shaft is keyed and can only be installed in two different positions.
It might be that the M6 bolt with 10mm head has come loose from wiper motor and the hole in that short drive arm is worn out. The hole should have two flat side where it mates to the shaft coming out of wiper motor.
So when that is correct you can only mount the drive arm in two positions, the right way or 180° off.
